Simple Basics About Dental Implants From Dr. Rief
FROM COMMON THINGS LIKE WEAR AND TEAR, TO TRAUMA OR DISEASE,, there are lots of adults who have experienced permanent tooth loss. Are you one of them?Regardless of the level of loss, discomfort and/or a lack of confidence are so often the most common results. Of course, permanent tooth loss is something Dr. Rief and her team are always do their very best to PREVENT. However, sometimes it just isn’t possible. The good news is that today there are beautiful and highly functional solutions.
Implant dentistry is not new, although from its origins in the 50’s it’s come a long way. Initial discoveries came when scientists learned how bones can fuse with titanium, making natural bone support possible. Today, Dr. Joanne Block Rief uses this original discovery to copy the root and tooth system that your mouth naturally has.
Implants are first placed within the gum line—then, they’re usually given 3–6 months healing time to ensure complete and proper fusion to your jawbone structure. After the implants heal, the custom crown, bridge, or dentures can be placed. This type of placement solution (unlike traditional dentures or bridges) is much stronger and longer lasting, giving you the confident smile you desire.
As with most dental procedures, dental implants begin with a consultation with Dr. Rief to help with any questions and allow her the chance to create a custom-tailored plan that best meets your needs.
